Introducing recycled plastic into the fitness world.

We are a group of 3 high school friends which reunited after years. A lot of time passed since graduation and the moment when we conceived the idea of LIFT.

Sustainability and recycling is our main focus because it is one of the most pressing problems our country is dealing with. We decided to start using plastic waste on fitness industry since all of us are passionate about sports. It all started while surfing the web, and one of us came across Precious plastic and realized that recycling plastic was easy and there were endless possibilities as to what you can make from recycled plastic.

Having the blue prints for the machines was a big plus, this meant that we could develop our machines and the idea of being in charge of the whole production process ourselves was very interesting. Once the idea took force we started a crowdfunding campaign, testing the market and selling our first units. After that, we’ve participated in various funds to create different moulds and better the manufacturing process.

Connecting with our community.

We want to disrupt the fitness industry whilst helping the environment. Our mission is reduce plastic waste whilst making green and renewable fitness products. The future aim of LIFT is to recycle plastic waste from at least 5 gyms while providing them fitness supplies and other related products. Our first product is a set of dumbbells with variable weight up to 10 kg. From that we would like to create fixed hexagonal weight dumbbells for gyms.

One of greatest difficulties has been the injection part, transferring the melted plastic into the moulds. Also the price of the moulds that are required to manufacture our products are very high. We’re fortunate that we won a government fund to keep the project running. It called Start Up-Chile which works as a Startup incubator.

Here’s a message from LIFT to the community:

“The best thing you can do is go for it, it may seem daunting at first but the journey is awesome and finding solutions to problems you didn’t know existed is priceless. I would recommend it 100%, if you’ve ever thought about doing something with recycled plastic, it can’t stay as a thought you’ve got to make it a reality”
